We work with ambitious founders and leadership teams who want a finance function that keeps pace with their growth — not one that slows it down.
Most established businesses have someone keeping the records. Very few have someone watching the numbers critically, reading the story they tell, and making sure that story holds up when a banker, buyer, or successor looks closely. That second thing is what we do.
A bookkeeper tells you what happened. We tell you what it means, whether it looks right, and what you should do about it. For established businesses with real complexity, that gap is expensive.
Your CPA handles tax. We do the twelve months of work in between — keeping your books in a state that makes the year-end fast, accurate, and cheaper than it would otherwise be.
Last month's P&L is useful. Knowing what it means for cash next quarter, or for what a buyer sees in three years' time, is what turns bookkeeping from a cost into an asset.
Clean numbers and a coherent financial narrative are two different things. We build both — because the narrative is what a bank, a buyer, or an investor actually reads.
Pricing a new contract. Opening in a new market. Making your first senior hire. These decisions carry real financial weight — and they deserve a business partner who knows your numbers, not a call to an accountant you see once a year at tax time.
We handle the full accounting function — bookkeeping, reporting, payments, filings, and the financial preparation a sale or succession requires — so you can stop managing it and start using the numbers to run the business.
Accurate, timely transaction coding, bank and card reconciliation, and a clean set of accounts every month — prepared to a standard that holds up under external scrutiny, not just internal review.
Supplier invoices entered once and paid once — no duplicate processes, no manual CSV imports, no month-end reconstruction. AR followed up so your cash isn't sitting in someone else's account.
Monthly reports written for a business owner, not an accountant. P&L, cash position, and the metrics that actually matter to how you run the business — available within days of month-end.
Quarterly filings prepared from books that are already reconciled. No last-minute reconstruction, no estimates. Payroll coordination to keep source deductions accurate and year-end clean.
Books delivered to your external accountant organised, reconciled, and with a clear narrative of the year's performance — so their engagement is efficient and yours is straightforward.
We design and implement finance operations built for today — automated where possible, integrated across your tools, and free of manual data entry. Cloud accounting, bill pay, expense capture, spend management, and reporting connected into a system that runs with minimal touch. AI-assisted where it adds real value.
Implementation and ongoing support for Float — the leading Canadian corporate card and spend platform. Individual cards for your team with real controls, automated vendor coding, and real-time visibility. We're a Float partner.
For businesses planning a sale, MBO, or family succession: normalised EBITDA preparation, cap table review, working capital analysis, and the financial data room a buyer's advisor expects to see.
We work with owner-managed businesses in Western Canada that have reached the point where the finances genuinely matter to outcomes — a bank conversation, a refinancing, a sale. Not pre-revenue startups. Not national companies with internal finance teams. Businesses in between, where the right financial partner changes things.
Succession, third-party sale, or MBO — within the next two to five years. The financial record you build now is the record a buyer reads. We start that work early, because the alternative is expensive.
Project-based revenue, subcontractor relationships, equipment, WIP, and crews across multiple sites. We understand the financial rhythms and the specific complexity that comes with this sector in BC and Alberta.
Consulting, engineering, legal, advisory. Utilisation, billing accuracy, and working capital management are the financial levers that matter — and where most firms' bookkeeping doesn't go deep enough.
Product-based businesses managing inventory, supplier terms, landed costs, and margin at SKU level. Whether you're selling direct, through retail, or both, we bring the financial rigour that turns good product businesses into great ones.
Revenue over $1M, growing complexity, and a finance setup that made sense when the business was smaller. Not ready for a full-time CFO, but well past what a part-time bookkeeper alone can manage.
The cost of a low-rate bookkeeper who misclassifies transactions, falls behind on reconciliations, or can't explain your numbers usually shows up at the worst possible time — a bank review, a sale process, or a CRA query.
If you're still on Sage 50 or QuickBooks Desktop, you're paying for it in bookkeeper hours, manual bank reconciliations, and financial visibility that's always a month behind. Cloud migration is a two to four month project, not a year-long disruption.
If your business has material USD spend, your bank's FX markup is costing you 2.5–3.5% on every transaction. On $500K of annual USD spend, that's up to $17,500 a year — sitting in a line on your P&L that nobody examines.
If you're thinking about selling your business at some point, the time to start preparing the financial record is now — not when you've decided you're ready. Buyers read three to five years of history. What that history says depends on what you do today.
A banker reviewing a credit facility. A buyer's advisor in due diligence. A successor trying to understand what they're inheriting. The question isn't whether your financial record will face external scrutiny — it's whether it will hold up when it does. That's what we prepare you for.
The questions we hear most from business owners weighing whether fractional accounting is the right fit — answered directly.
There are two possibilities. One: your bookkeeper is doing a good job, and what's missing is the CFO-level layer on top — someone who reads those numbers critically, produces reporting that's useful for decisions, and connects the dots between the books and the business. Two: the books have gaps that have never been addressed — inconsistent coding, reconciliation issues, unclear treatment of owner expenses — and you simply haven't had the right eyes on them. The first conversation usually identifies which situation you're in.
Yes — and they'll probably charge you less once we're involved. Your CPA handles corporate tax, formal financial statement engagements, and filings. We handle the twelve months of ongoing work that lives between those engagements. When we hand your books over at year-end, they're clean, reconciled, and accompanied by a narrative of the year — which means your accountant spends less time reconstructing and more time on the work that actually requires their designation.
It's the most common starting point for established businesses in our market — it's not a disqualifier. We'll take an honest look at whether a cloud migration makes sense for your situation, and if it does, we manage it. The typical migration for a well-maintained set of books takes two to four months and is nearly always worth it in bookkeeper time saved and visibility gained. We won't push it if it genuinely doesn't make sense.
Yes — and the earlier the better. Buyers and their advisors look at three to five years of financial history. The quality of what they find directly affects what they're willing to pay and how confidently they'll pay it. If you start preparing eighteen months before a sale, you have one year of strong financials to show. Start three years out and you have three. That difference is meaningful — not just for the price, but for the structure of the deal and how much scrutiny you face in due diligence.
We price on a fixed monthly retainer, scoped to your actual situation — transaction volume, number of entities, what reporting you need, and whether we're doing the full function or working alongside an existing bookkeeper. For established businesses in the $2M–$20M range, most engagements fall between $1,500 and $4,500 per month. You know what the retainer covers before we start, and it doesn't change unless the scope does. Where work falls outside the retainer — a strategic project, due diligence support, a financing process — we bill hourly in arrears. CFO-level work in particular isn't always linear, and we'd rather price it honestly than squeeze it into a fixed fee that doesn't fit.
We talk about your business, your current setup, and what you're trying to accomplish. Thirty to forty minutes. No questionnaire, no deck. We'll tell you honestly if we're the right fit.
We review your current accounts and accounting setup to understand what's working and what needs attention. This shapes the scope rather than guesswork shaping it.
Fixed monthly fee, specific scope, no ambiguity. You know exactly what we'll do and what it will cost. If it doesn't feel right, you're not committed to anything.
We take ownership, coordinate with your existing accountant, and establish a monthly rhythm that keeps you informed without requiring your time. You get back to running the business.
We work across the platforms Western Canadian businesses use — and we can advise on what's right for yours rather than defaulting to one option. Float is our spend management partner; their corporate card platform is the strongest Canadian option available for businesses looking to modernise how they control and track spend.
The first call costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We'll tell you honestly what we see in your situation — and whether we're the right people to help.
